Starch/Pasta

  • 1 cup orzo pasta Rinse briefly in cold water to prevent clumping.

Liquids/Dairy

  • 2 cups chicken broth Measure out before starting for ease.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Let it simmer for a while to enhance its creamy consistency.

Seasoning/Spice Blend

  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning Adjust the amount based on your spice preference.
  • salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to your preferences.

Finishing Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley, for garnish Chop finely and add just before serving to maintain its vibrant color.

Instructions

Cooking

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chicken, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  • Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  • Stir in orzo and cook for about 1 minute, ensuring each piece is coated with oil.
  • Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Once most liquid is absorbed, stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until creamy.
  • Taste the dish and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.

Notes

Enhance flavor by adding a splash of lemon juice. Customize with vegetables like bell peppers or spinach. Instead of parsley, consider sprinkling some extra cheese on top before serving for an indulgent touch.
