Ingredients
  

Main Protein

  • 1 can 1 can of salmon, drained Use canned salmon for convenience; alternative: canned tuna.

Starch/Pasta

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or seasoned breadcrumbs; alternative: crushed crackers or panko.

Aromatics & Vegetables

  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped Aromatic richness; alternative: green onions or dill.
  • 1/4 cup parsley, finely chopped For freshness and flavor.

Liquids/Dairy

  • 1 large egg Acts as a binder; alternative: flaxseed mixed with water for vegan.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds zing; balances flavors.

Seasoning/Spice Blend

  • to taste salt Adjust according to preference; consider cayenne or paprika for kick.
  • to taste pepper Adjust according to preference.

Optional Finishing Ingredients

  • enough to coat pan vegetable oil for frying Alternative: olive oil or coconut oil.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Combine the drained salmon, breadcrumbs, onion, parsley, egg, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  • Using your hands, scoop out portions of the mixture and shape it into patties about 1 inch thick.

Cooking

  • In a non-stick skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium heat until it shimmers.
  • Carefully place the patties in the hot oil, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  • Transfer the cooked patties to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve warm with a squeeze of lemon on top.

Notes

Consider adding a dash of hot sauce or different herbs for customization. Serve with tartar sauce or a fresh salad.
