Preparation

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up as it cooks, for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  • Add the minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes to the skillet and sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream; stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Toss in the cooked pasta, grated parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir for about 2-3 minutes until pasta is well coated.
  • Taste the dish and adjust seasonings if necessary before removing from heat.
  • Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Consider adding a splash of white wine for flavor enhancement or fresh vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
