Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans Use fresh green beans for the best texture and flavor.
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter Can be substituted with olive oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced garlic adds aromatic flavor.
  • to taste salt Kosher salt typically used.
  • to taste pepper Freshly cracked pepper for balanced seasoning.
  • 1 lemon Optional, to squeeze over the green beans.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by bringing a medium pot of water to a boil over high heat.
  • Add the trimmed green beans to the boiling water. Cook them for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
  • Once cooked, drain the green beans in a colander and run them under cold water to stop the cooking process.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic once the butter is melted, allowing it to sauté for about 1 minute.
  • Introduce the drained green beans to the skillet. Toss them gently to coat them in the garlic butter, letting them cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Finally, season the green beans with salt and pepper to taste, and squeeze lemon juice over if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For freezing, blanch the green beans first, then cool and pack in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
