  • 2 large eggs Bring to room temperature for better mixing.
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour Measure accurately to ensure right balance.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Ensure it's not expired for effective leavening.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1 cup butter Soften before creaming, but do not melt.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Add richness in flavor.
  • 3/4 cup white sugar Helps with sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use pure for the best flavor.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use semi-sweet, dark, or milk chocolate chips based on preference.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then pour in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mix to the wet mix, stirring until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Optionally, cover the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with sea salt on top and pair with milk or ice cream. Customize by adding nuts or dried fruit.
